Privacy and personal information

Privacy policy

Last updated August 15, 2026

CR51 Solutions (“CR51”, “I” or “me”) is a technology consulting business based in Quebec City. This policy explains, in plain language, how I handle personal information when you visit this website, send an inquiry or book a meeting.

This policy is intended to meet Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector and, where it applies, Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Who is responsible

CR51 is responsible for personal information in its custody or control. Jason Pierre Sweeney is the person in charge of the protection of personal information and receives privacy questions, requests and complaints.

Information I collect

I collect only information reasonably needed for the purposes described below. The website has no account, payment system or newsletter sign-up.

Please do not use the contact form to send sensitive personal information.

Information you provide

The contact form asks for your email address and lets you optionally provide your name, a message and any other information you choose to include. If you email me or become a client, I also receive the content of those communications and ordinary business records. If you book through Google Calendar, I receive the appointment and contact details you submit there.

Technical information needed to deliver the site

A web request necessarily makes your IP address, requested URL, date and time, browser or device headers, and sometimes the referring page available to the hosting network and to external assets requested by the page. This information is used to deliver and secure the site.

Optional analytics information

Only after you accept analytics, Google Analytics receives a browser identifier, page and interaction events, session and traffic-source information, browser and device characteristics, and an approximate location derived from the IP address. CR51 does not ask Google Analytics to collect your name, email address or precise location.

Your consent preference

The site stores “granted” or “denied” in your browser’s local storage so it can remember your analytics choice. That preference remains on your device and is not sent to CR51 or Google.

Why I use it

I use personal information only for the purposes identified when it is collected or otherwise permitted by law:

  • to answer an inquiry, arrange a meeting and determine whether CR51 can help;
  • to establish, manage and document a client or business relationship;
  • to deliver, operate, troubleshoot and protect the website and contact channel;
  • with your optional consent, to understand aggregate site traffic and improve the site; and
  • to meet legal, tax, accounting, security and dispute-resolution obligations.

Technology and service providers

The following providers can receive information when their function is used. Their own privacy notices explain how they operate their services. CR51 does not sell or rent personal information and does not use it for targeted advertising.

Amazon Web Services (AWS and CloudFront)

Hosts and delivers this static website. Its network receives page-request and device information needed for delivery, reliability and security.

Formspree

Processes the contact form, including the name, email address, message and technical request information. Formspree accepts the submission, stores it in its service and sends it to CR51 by email.

Formspree privacy policy

Google Fonts

Provides the site’s typefaces when a page loads. The request can include your IP address, requested URL, browser or operating-system information and referrer. Google states that the Fonts service does not set cookies or use these requests to create profiles or serve ads.

Google Fonts privacy FAQ

Google Analytics 4

Measures page use only after you opt in. It uses first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_* to distinguish a browser and sessions. Those cookies can last up to two years unless you withdraw consent or clear them sooner.

Google privacy policy

Google Calendar appointment scheduling

The booking button opens a Google service. Google receives information when you visit that service; CR51 receives the appointment and contact details you choose to submit. Google’s terms and privacy policy govern that separate page.

Consent and your choices

Google Analytics is off by default. Accepting and declining are presented as equal choices, and refusing analytics does not limit the site. You can reopen the control at any time through “Cookies” in the footer. Withdrawing turns analytics off for later page use and removes the _ga and _ga_* cookies available to this site; it does not reverse processing that occurred before withdrawal.

Submitting the contact form or writing to me authorizes CR51 to use the information to respond and follow up on that request. You may withdraw consent by contacting the privacy officer, subject to information CR51 must retain or may use without consent under law.

The analytics control does not disable the strictly functional hosting request or the Google Fonts asset requests described above.

When information is disclosed

I limit access to people and providers who need the information for an identified purpose. Information may be disclosed to the providers named above under service arrangements, when required by law or a valid legal process, or when reasonably necessary to protect a person, CR51 or the integrity of the service. I do not sell or rent personal information.

Processing outside Quebec

AWS, Formspree and Google may process or store information outside Quebec and Canada, including in the United States. Information there may be subject to foreign laws and lawful access by foreign authorities.

Before entrusting personal information outside Quebec, CR51 considers the sensitivity, purpose, safeguards and legal environment involved and uses contractual and technical measures appropriate to the risk.

How long I keep information

I keep personal information only as long as needed for the identified purpose and applicable legal requirements, then securely destroy it or anonymize it for a serious and legitimate purpose.

Inquiries and meeting records

If no client relationship results, they are generally kept for no more than 24 months after the last meaningful contact, unless they are needed for a legal or security reason.

Client and business records

They are kept during the relationship and for the applicable tax, accounting, contractual and limitation periods afterward.

Form submissions

Copies in Formspree and CR51’s email or business records follow the same inquiry or client schedule.

Analytics

User-level and event-level Google Analytics data is configured for no more than 14 months. Aggregate reports that do not directly identify a person may remain longer. Analytics cookies can last up to two years; withdrawing consent removes the first-party analytics cookies available to this site.

Consent preference

The local-storage choice remains on your device until you change it, clear site data or your browser removes it.

How I protect information

CR51 uses safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity and amount of information, including encrypted transmission, limited access, reputable service providers, account protections, retention controls and procedures for privacy incidents. No system is completely secure, but suspected incidents are assessed, contained, documented and reported when the law requires it.

Your rights

Subject to legal exceptions, you may ask to access personal information CR51 holds about you, receive a copy, correct incomplete or inaccurate information, withdraw consent, and have information deleted when it is no longer required. Where the law applies, you may also request computerized information you provided in a structured, commonly used format, or ask that dissemination cease or a hyperlink be de-indexed.

Send a written request to the privacy officer. I may ask for reasonable proof of identity before responding. Access is normally free, although reasonable transcription, reproduction or transmission costs may be charged after advance notice. CR51 will respond within 30 days as Quebec law requires.

Children

This business website is not directed to children under 14, and I do not knowingly collect their personal information without consent from a parent or tutor. Contact the privacy officer if you believe a child has submitted information.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy when the site, providers or legal requirements change. The revised policy will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date, and a prominent notice will be provided when a change materially affects how personal information is handled.

Questions, requests and complaints

Email the person in charge at jason@cr51solutions.ca. Please describe your question or request clearly and do not send sensitive identification documents unless I ask for them through an appropriate channel.

The person in charge will acknowledge a privacy complaint, review the relevant facts and safeguards, and provide the outcome and any appropriate corrective steps within a reasonable time.

If a concern is not resolved, you may also contact the appropriate privacy regulator.
